I use KPhotoAlbum to manage the about 50 000 photos in my archive. It’s a great, powerful application to tag and find photos. However I find it a bit hard to include the edited versions of photos in the database.
So I’d like to know what would be a good method to work with original photo files and the modified versions?

Yes, it’s true & great news: Facebook chat can now be used over any XMPP / Jabber client, like Pidgin and Kopete.

USB flash fail
Photorec was able to rescue some .png and .nef files but the most important .tiff files were left unrecovered.

I started today two new IRC channels on Freenode to discuss the usage and development of two great Free & Open source programs, Tangogps and Smile, and also to allow free & realtime discussion of the user communities.
Tangogps is a map & gps program for Linux. Tangogps is written by Marcus Bauer and ir runs on devices like Openmoko Freerunner, but also on desktop computers. The channel I started is #tangogps, feel free to join! (Ajax client and Java client)

What’s your experience on these apps? Using Tangogps or Smile? Best things about them?
About IRC – I think the IRC commands are a bit of a pain.. on #tangogps, I first dropped my op rights only to realize that after that I wasnt’ able to register the channel.. So 4 of us had to leave the channel to gain admin rights again.. But I’m learning :)
