As they said, if you organize events off-line, having a list of those is good but having photos from the events is better. And if one is a community leader, I’d hope he’d be in touch with other community leaders (on-line :( and this way gain trust so that they can cheer him. Or people working for him – I would trust if someone gets cheers from say 5 people, and if 1-3 join the meeting to make sure his work is appreciated. There is always the option of joining the meeting and saying ‘this guy didn’t do what he claims he’s doing’.

And well, then there’s again Code of Conduct and leadership CoC that should make you play fair.

I’m sure there are members who have not done much to become members, maybe even some who’ve cheated in the application process. It’s sad, but no system is perfect so some procentage of ‘wrong members’ must be accepted.

To cut it short, if one does a good job, documents it on the wiki and gets cheers from other people, the membership shouldn’t be a problem.

The only thing is a real proof – the cheers from the community. But what to do if you’re a leader of such community? Who do ask those cheers? Can board trust the cheers from people who is under someone who want to be counted as ubuntu member?
