If this didn’t make you secure your (Windows) computer, maybe this will:
All of it may not be true but it’s better to know a bit too much and bee too careful than get infected, I think. You lock your car and bike when you go to the shop for a minute, right? You get the needed shots when you travel, no matter how little’s the risk – you wouldn’t want to risk your health, right? So why would you risk your computer & files or as the video points out, even your money.
Now that Microsoft stops supporting XP & Office 2003 in two weeks (April 14th, 2009, only important security fixes are still issued) and you don’t feel like paying 350e for Windows Vista or are not interested in trying the beta/unstable Windows 7 it might be a good idea to have a look at Linux which is less likely to be affected by viruses, adware or malware and also has a firewall built-in. By the way, just to tell you something about the reliability of the video, check the photo at http://lame.fi/puollustajat.png – it points out that ~the same photo is used both in http://isanmaa.ghfin.com and in the video at 10:46 to show ‘a gang of Russian hackers’.
