Right after the first release of Kustomizer I realized that GSM didn’t work at all. It was a pain to fix but I think it’s fixed now and GSM should work again. The script has gone through some major changes and I think it makes more sense now. Bad thing is that now it requires a bit more user interaction (restarting the script) but it also should be faster and suit forthe needs of more users than earlier.
ONE SCRIPT – TWO SETUPS
It’s now possible to run Kustomizer once or twice. Here’s an explanation what happens:
First run:
- illume-theme
- terminal keyboard
- wrench & qwerty buttons
- opkg.org repository added
- qpe eating CPU resources -bug fix
- new gsmhandset.state for improved audio quality
- Restart to apply the new settings
Second run:
- Linking /home/root/Maps to /media/card/Maps
- Loads of coolest applications & libraries
- GPRS settings
- Your custom script from /media/card/customscript will be run, if found
- Restart to apply the new settings

Hi there,
I like the idea of your script but i found 2 errors in the 0.2 version and thought i would share:
1. You try to install yaouh_0.3 but a newer version 0.4 is available and 0.3 is not
2. when trying to install meooem i never get any response from the server
Otherwise great job and i would love to see improvements to the script to be able to use it.
An Idea would be some error handling in order to debug from users more easy.
A way of having a summary of the installation errors to display in a log.
regards,
Hi!
Thanks for your feedback. I added them to http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Talk:Kustomizer#0.2_release and will fix them for the next version.
I agree that some kind of error handling or error summary would be nice. At some stage I tried 2>> but it didn’t work nice so I left it out.
I suppose the errors didn’t prevent you from installing the rest?
I am not having very much luck with this.
A lot of the stuff just won’t download even links from the http://www.angstrom-distribution.org.
I tried going through the script step by step in order not to have it skipping a lot of stuff when one thing in a list did not install but get too many errors in order for me to believe that the end result will be of any use.
I don’t say your script does not work but for me it just doesn’t. A shame really.
I will give another version a try if you make one
@Lars: Nice to hear you gave another try.
I’m currently working on the 0.3 version (see http://www.kurppa.fi/freerunner/kustomizer_devel) that has some of the fixes included. There’s also still some things to do before I’ll replace 0.2 with the newer version.
meooem: I’m trying to install it now from opkg.org repositories, for some reason the installation seems to fail. I’m trying to see what’s the problem: opkg install meooem installs it at least for me now.
yaouh: I’m installing it from opkg.org repositories as well -> as soon as someone uploads the latest version there it’ll be installed with Kustomizer (and anyway it has some problems with the latest tangogps that has the default map repositories hard-coded somewhere :(
angstrom: I tried to go to http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/feeds/2007/ipk/glibc/armv4t/base/ on my desktop computer and it takes a long time to get there -> can be that their servers are now busy for some reason and the download times out or something. There’s not much I can do except mirror the packages to my server. I’ll see if it’s necessary.
Thanks for your feedback Lars!
