A new open source project has been released today: the Finnish translation of the classic book ‘The Cathedral and the Bazaar‘ by Eric S. Raymond. The book tells a story about software development and should maybe be read by everyone in the Open Source community.
The purpose of the project is to translate all 30-40 pages on a moinmoin wiki in Finnish and then create a PDF book with cover page and everything. The original version of the book has been released with Open Publication License. The translated version will use the same licence.
Check the project page for more information. If you know Finnish you’re welcome to translate! Also check the original book.

I’d read a few chapters of this book and pretty much wanted to stick a needle in my eye the entire time. He’d decided on the allegory of the book’s title and then tried to force fit every concept into that world view. There were a couple of good points along the way, don’t get me wrong. But eventually I just went out and hung myself, to spare any further misery of reading this drudgery any further.
heh :) I guess you don’t have to agree on all of the points but as you said there are a couple of good points that might make it worth reading. If not happy, you can find some other good stuff to read, see http://www.gnu.org/doc/TOC-FSFS.html
