Does anyone know if there are deb packages available to install a selection of KDE4 themes easily, like any other packages? Or even a repository with all the coolest themes available.
I know that now you can install new Plasma themes or window decorations by going to kde-look.org, finding a theme of your choice, downloading it, extracting it to some specific directory and then loading it with the KDE tools. I think this is not the easy way to do it.. Detailed instructions are available at pramodrt.com – as you see it’s not something you’d recommend a newbie..
I was actually able to change the theme to the Glassified mentioned in the instructions but some changes were required:
- yes, you need to create the ~/.kde4/share/apps/desktoptheme directory
- You need also to add the following lines in the ~/.kde4/share/config/plasmarc:
[Theme]
name=Name-of-the-directory-where-your-theme-is-ie-Glassified
Or are there plans to write some kind of theme installer and include it in KDE at some stage?

Have you noticed Right-clicking on desktop>Desktop Settings>New Theme?
Pretty simple plasma theme installation
Uh, Gethotnewstuff
“Get new themes”
Is included in KDE and is being extended to include windecos and such.
maybe you should hide that mail address in the screenshot(firefox)
@Tip: indeed, there we are :) Sorry, I just couldn’t find it..
@sjsarette: Gethotnewstuff looks promising!!
In fact, the correct website is: http://www.kde-look.org/
@nabil2199: thanks, did it. Though I have the address visible in the me@internet page as well..
@Piotr: thanks, fixed!
